THE REALITY OF NORTH CHICAGO

It is a community of about 33,000 people (including the Great Lakes Naval Community) with deep religious commitments, tremendous potential, but also significant needs. North Chicago is a food desert without a grocery store and striving to improve the business environment, community, and school system. With a current emphasis on improvement and revitalization, the school system and city leadership have made tremendous strides in improving ACT scores, graduation rates, lower truancy rates, and support for families in recent years.
